Your remarkable journey begins with a spectacular flight to Paro, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival at Paro airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along the main street of Paro. Overnight in Paro.
After a hearty breakfast, your exploration of Paro begins. Visit Ta Dzong, which has been transformed from a watchtower into the National Museum. It houses a diverse collection of ancient Bhutanese art, artifacts, and a small natural history exhibit. Walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), a majestic fortress with a commanding view of Paro valley. In the afternoon, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a historical fortress, and a traditional farmhouse to gain insights into the local way of life. End the day with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan.
After breakfast, journey to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. En route, pause at Chuzom (confluence), where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet. In Thimphu, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, housing the School for Buddhist Studies. Explore the city in the afternoon, with visits to King’s Memorial Chhorten and Trashichhodzong, a beautiful medieval fortress and monastery. Explore the Handicrafts Emporium, Textile and Folk Heritage Museum, and the local market. Overnight in Thimphu.
Enjoy a morning of sightseeing in Thimphu, with visits to the National Library, Painting School, and Traditional Medicine Institute. After lunch, depart for Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. Pause at the Dochula Pass (3,050m), known for its enchanting views of Bhutan’s landscapes. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong, a historical fortress, and Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chhorten. Overnight in Punakha.
After breakfast, drive to Gangtey via Wangduephodrang. Visit the impressive Wangdue Dzong and explore the local market. Continue through dense forests, with oak and rhododendron trees, reaching Gangtey (Phobjikha). Take a walk in Gangtey village and visit Gangtey Gompa, the region’s sole Nyingmapa monastery. Overnight in a camp or guest house.
Explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley in the morning, famous for its Black Necked Cranes, which migrate here to escape harsh winters. Afterward, drive to Trongsa, crossing the 3,300m high Pele la pass. Visit Trongsa market in the evening. Overnight in Trongsa.
In the morning, visit Trongsa Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture, and Ta Dzong, a watchtower built to defend the dzong. After lunch, proceed to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Enjoy the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Bumthang.
Bumthang comprises four valleys, each with varying altitudes and sacred sites. Visit Tamshing Lhakhang, renowned for its religious Buddhist paintings. Explore Jakar Dzong, the administrative center of the valley. In the afternoon, visit Kurje Lhakhang, one of the most sacred places, and Jambay Lhakhang, an ancient monastery. Embark on an excursion to the Ura Valley, a 48 km drive, offering magnificent open countryside and astonishing views of Mount Gangkar Puensum. Explore the bustling Bumthang market in the morning and then drive to Wangdue. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a renowned restaurant in Trongsa town. Take a leisurely stroll around Wangdue town in the evening, visiting shops, the local market, and mingling with the locals. Overnight in Wangduephodrang.
Start your day early and drive to Haa via the Chele-la pass. Enjoy magnificent views of Mount Chomolhari and Jichu Drakey. Explore the Haa Dzong, a stunning fortress presently occupied by the military. Visit Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) and Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple). Return to Paro in the evening. Overnight in Paro.
