Arriving at Paro Airport is an exhilarating experience as your plane approaches the Himalayas. The sight of the towering peaks, rushing rivers, and the serene beauty of the Paro Valley welcomes you. As you land, the magnificent Paro Dzong and Ta Dzong (converted into a museum) come into view, perched above the Paro River. You will be warmly received by our representatives who will guide you through the airport formalities. The journey to your hotel in the scenic Paro Valley is the beginning of your Bhutan Himalayan tour. Your exploration has just begun.

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic journey towards Thimphu, the capital city. The flight to Paro offers breathtaking vistas as you head north towards the Tibetan border. You’ll be greeted by the lush green hills, cascading waterfalls, and the towering Himalayan peaks. Upon entering the Paro River Valley, you’ll see Paro Dzong and the Ta Dzong, a former watchtower that now houses a museum.

Our representatives will be there to assist you with airport formalities before driving through the picturesque Paro Valley to your hotel. After lunch, your adventure continues with a visit to Buddha Point, where you can pay homage to the colossal Buddha statue and enjoy panoramic views of Thimphu Valley. Next, explore the Memorial Chorten, a place of continuous mantra chanting and prayer wheel spinning, dedicated to peace. Your journey continues with visits to the Textile Museum and the Folk Heritage Museum, offering insights into Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and history. Your day in Thimphu concludes with an evening spent exploring the local markets, followed by a well-deserved dinner.

Begin your day with a visit to the National Library, home to a vast collection of precious Buddhist manuscripts. Next, explore Zorig Chusum College, known as the School of Painting, where students undertake six years of study in 13 traditional arts and crafts courses. In the afternoon, you will visit Trashi Chhoe Dzong, the “fortress of glorious religion.” This impressive site serves as the center of government and religion in Bhutan, housing the throne and the seat of Je Khenpo, the supreme abbot of the monastic body. You’ll be captivated by the Dzong’s history, originally built in 1641 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, and later reconstructed in the 1960s in traditional Bhutanese style, without nails or architectural plans. As the evening approaches, explore the vibrant markets of Thimphu and savor a delightful dinner. Retire to your comfortable hotel for the night.

After breakfast, return to Paro and check into your hotel. Take a short break to rest before embarking on a captivating sightseeing tour of Paro. Begin at Drukgyel Dzong, an intriguing fortress built to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over the Tibetan forces in the 1644 war. Next, visit Ta Dzong, famously known as the ‘WatchTower,’ which now serves as the National Museum, home to antique thangka paintings, textiles, weapons, historic artifacts, and more. Continue your journey to Rinpung Dzong, where exquisite murals adorn the wooden porch, depicting Buddhist traditions, cosmic mandalas, and more. You’ll also visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan. Your day concludes with a peaceful night at your hotel in Paro.
